Conor Hourihane display brings huge praise from Aston Villa fans

Conor Hourihane was on the scoresheet in Aston Villa’s 5-1 win over Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder netted Villa’s fourth of the match at Carrow Road, and his performance led to a number of the club’s fans calling for him to start more matches.

Hourihane actually only played 24 minutes of Premier League football for Dean Smith’s side between August 17 and September 22.

The 28-year-old was handed the full 90 minutes against Burnley last weekend, though, before playing for 77 minutes against Norwich on Saturday.

Operating in a midfield three, Hourihane, who has also featured twice in the EFL Cup this season, had an 85% pass success rate, according to WhoScored.

And his outing against the Canaries impressed a whole host of the Villa supporters, with some calling for him to be used more frequently from the start of matches.

Tottenham fans react to Daniel Levy’s plan for Mauricio Pochettino

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have had their say following a report in The Sun saying Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is ready to back manager Mauricio Pochettino, and will help him through the tough patch they are currently in.

Indeed, Spurs are without an away win in the Premier League since they beat Fulham in January, while they already find themselves 10 points adrift of leaders Liverpool in the top flight this season.

A disappointing performance in their opening Champions League group game and an embarrassing Carabao Cup exit against League Two side Colchester United have hardly helped matters, but it appears as though the 57-year-old Tottenham supremo is ready to stick by the man he appointed in 2014.

This is despite the same report in The Sun suggesting former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri would throw his hat into the ring for the role if it became available.

Tottenham supporters have been quick to give their thoughts on the report, and while one said “maybe this is Levy’s wake-up call”, another urged Levy to “give him a transfer budget”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…

Mahmoud Dahoud is a player that would massively improve West Ham

West Ham completed just the one signing in January and that may lead to another big spending spree this summer as Manuel Pellegrini aims to take his side to the next level.

The Hammers haven’t been at their best recently and that led to them dropping down to 12th position, a position that doesn’t justify how good they’ve been at times this campaign.

However, West Ham have to maintain those performances at every time in the season and so their aspirations of finishing in 7th place are looking harder with every game that goes by.

To solve that issue, simply put, West Ham need some better players in the summer transfer window, with a number of players not good enough to take the Hammers forward.

Another midfielder will be key to their success and a man who could really help is Borussia Dortmund’s Mahmoud Dahoud.

The Dortmund star, (who is valued at £16.2 million on Transfermarkt) is a player who would bring a great deal to the London Stadium, having proven himself to be a great player in the Bundesliga over the last few seasons.

At just 23-years-old, Dahoud has established himself in the Bundesliga but has struggled to get himself on the team-sheet consistently, having only started five league games this season.

Yet last season and his first with Borussia Dortmund, he was a regular and played in 34 games, where he does his best to provide six assists.

Dahoud has great vision and a solid passing range. Not only that, he has a good amount of pace which means he could be utilised in a more box-to-box role, helping things happen in-front of goal and giving a hand defensively as well.

West Ham would do well to acquire such a player, who could complement the likes of Mark Noble and Declan Rice even more.

Sunderland: Fans react to Elliott Dickman’s departure

Sunderland confirmed on Thursday that Under-23 coach Elliott Dickman has left the club for rivals Newcastle United.

And, as to be expected, a number of Black Cats supporters have been reacting to the update on social media.

Dickman spent over 25 years with Sunderland as a player and in the coaching department, taking the lead coach role for the Under-23s in his most recent position.

He guided the club’s Under-23s to two finals during his four-year stint in charge, losing on penalties to Crystal Palace back in May in the Premier League 2 Division 1 playoff final.

Dickman has now left to take up a similar role with Newcastle, with Sunderland thanking the 43-year-old for his ‘immense contribution’ at the club.

Sunderland fans react

This is what these Black Cats fans had to say in reply after the club officially confirmed Dickman’s exit on Twitter, with one labelling it as ‘odd’ and another sarcastically saying they are ‘gutted’.

Man United fans hammer Lindelof

Flocking to Twitter, many Manchester United fans were less than impressed with the performance of defender Victor Lindelof as their side edged past Atalanta 3-2 on Wednesday evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, losing 2-0 just before the half hour mark courtesy of strikes from Mario Pasalic and Merih Demiral, had it all to do on a thoroughly enthralling night of Champions League football.

United’s unlikely fight back started early in the second half when Marcus Rashford fed off Bruno Fernandes’ sumptuous through ball to bury a neat finish into Atalanta’s bottom corner.

As the Red Devils kept knocking, it was an unlikely hero who stepped up next in Harry Maguire, with the England international defender netting a half volley at the back post for 2-2.

In typical Hollywood fashion, there was only one man set to take centre stage for United’s late winner as Cristiano Ronaldo leapt to meet Luke Shaw’s cross with a towering header and the eventual winner.

One man who certainly didn’t take any acclaim, however, was Sweden ace Lindelof – and it is clear to see why going by his numbers.

According to SofaScore, he was United’s second-lowest rated player on the night with a 6.5/10 and won none of his ground duels up against the Serie A side.

Flocking to Twitter, many supporters criticised his performance – find all of their verdicts down below.

Rangers: Ryan Jack update emerges

An update has emerged on the fitness of Rangers central midfielder Ryan Jack, via an insider source…

What’s the latest?

Close friend of Ryan Jack and former Gers star Greg Stewart has revealed that the midfielder is not too far away from being back in action for the club.

Stewart has claimed that Jack will be ‘like a new signing’ for the Gers and that he has heard the 29-year-old is closing in on his return.

He told the Daily Record:

“It’s been a difficult one for Ryan.

“He’s had a couple of problems but from what I hear it won’t be long before he’s back on the pitch. That’s great news – it will be like a new signing for the team, because we’ve missed him.

“Every team would miss having a Ryan Jack in their line-up as he’s got a bit of everything about him. He even chips in with a few goals, which is great for a midfielder. Once he’s back, it will be like he’s got a new lease of life and I can’t wait to see him out there again.”

Gerrard will be buzzing

Jack’s last appearance for the Gers came back in February and he recently took to Instagram to post a picture of his muddy boots on the floor of what appeared to be a changing room.

His post left plenty to speculate over in regards to what stage he is at in his recovery, but these quotes from his close friend provide a better perspective as he has stated that Jack is not too far away from being fit.

Gerrard is surely buzzing with this news as it will be a welcome boost to his team in the coming weeks and months.

Jack adds another central midfield option for him to call upon in the Scottish Premiership and Europa League, which could make him feel like a new signing, as Stewart explained. It also allows him to rest and rotate his other options in that area of the pitch.

Back in 2019, the Teddy Bears head coach lauded Jack as a leader within the squad as he demands everyone around him to up their levels. He said:

“Ryan is an example for the rest of the squad because he never drops his standards, whether it’s a training session or a game.

“He knits everything together, he drives the team on, he demands from everyone else around him.”

This suggests that Gerrard will love to have Jack back in contention to play as he could raise the standard of those playing alongside him and lift the XI overall.

Whilst you can debate his own merits as a player and whether, as an individual, he is better than the likes of John Lundstram, Steven Davis, Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo, his leadership – as explained by Gerrard – could be an immeasurable boost to the Gers.

Celtic handed Mikey Johnston injury boost

Celtic have been handed a major injury boost ahead of the Hoops’ Scottish Premiership clash on Saturday afternoon.

What’s the talk?

According to a report by the Daily Record, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that he will be able to call upon Mikey Johnston for the Bhoys’ trip to Motherwell this afternoon, as the winger has recovered from the latest in a series of injuries which have seen the 22-year-old make just one competitive appearance under the 56-year-old.

Speaking about Johnston’s recovery, the Hoops boss said: “Mikey Johnston is available, which is good.”

Ange will be buzzing

Considering just how many injuries Postecoglou has had to deal with throughout the first few months of his tenure at Parkhead, that Johnston finally seems to have recovered from his numerous knocks is sure to have left the 56-year-old buzzing.

While the winger has struggled for game-time in recent campaigns, largely down to the 22-year-old appearing to be rather injury-prone, he nevertheless demonstrated back in 2018/19 that, when given the opportunity, he certainly has the potential to be a hugely important player for the Bhoys.

Indeed, over his 14 Premiership appearances that season, Johnston scored an impressive five goals at an average of one strike for every 136 minutes of football played.

As such, if the winger can maintain his fitness going forwards, as well as once again hitting this rate of goals per minute, he could undoubtedly play a key role within Postecoglou’s side and potentially help fire Celtic back to the top of the Premiership.

Considering the team’s rather ropey away form so far this season – with the Hoops having won just once on the road in the current league campaign – the manager will certainly be hoping that the 22-year-old can help his side secure a much-needed victory at Fir Park today.

Man City fans flock to Sterling news

Flocking to Twitter, many Manchester City supporters have erupted over a contract update involving star Raheem Sterling.

The England international, who is still yet to put pen to paper on fresh terms at the Etihad Stadium, has been the subject of some criticism for his City performances over the last year.

A far cry from his 2019/2020 season, where he finished the campaign as Pep Guardiola’s top goal scorer in all competitions (31), Sterling bagged below half that total over 2020/2021 (14).

The £300,000-per-week forward, after a stellar Euro 2020 tournament with England, still hasn’t managed to rediscover his prolific form from two seasons ago and news has now come to light on his contract situation.

Reliable reporter James Ducker of The Telegraph says both the player and Guardiola have struck an uneasy truce whilst agreeing to disagree on certain matters.

While sources at the Etihad complex say Sterling isn’t screaming injustice and has his head firmly down, the 26-year-old’s new deal talks have stalled and will remain on hold to be revisited after a few months.

The player will have a year left on his current deal next summer and sporting director Txiki Begiristain risks losing him for a minimal or non-existent fee.

Flocking to this update, there have been many opinions by a plethora of City supporters, find all of their best ones down below.
